Tip: Most plants grow best in soil with a slightly acidic or neutral pH (pH 6.0-7.0). Beneficial microorganisms develop in such soil, and minerals are easily accessible to plant roots. In soil that is too acidic, beneficial bacteria die and mold fungi develop, and many minerals create chemical compounds insoluble in water.
To lower the pH of the substrate, add sulfur, and to increase it - lime. Since the amount of these additives depends on the type of soil, when selecting them, use appropriate gardening guides. Lower doses of sulfur (or lime, respectively) are used for light soils - with a low humus content, higher for fertile soils - rich in humus.
